When First Time I Heard Chet

Gary Cochran - Georgia

I guess the first time I heard Chet Atkins was on a record doing the guitar work for Martha Carson in the 50's. I bought all of her records and my first record I bought of Chet was "Downhill Drag".  My daddy drove me up to Nashville when I was about 12 years old to see Chet playing with the Carter Family. He played"My Little Girl" that night and I was hooked. When I was 16, I had my favorite spot at the drive-in movie so my old AM would pick up WSM. I would stop everything just to hear Chet play his instrumental about 10:30PM every Saturday night. I lost more girls because of Chet.
